Safe Chemistry Class

If anybody observed me a couple of weeks ago in front of

a computer screen at main branch of Cranston Public Library, they

might have concluded that I was  thrilled by violent and colorful

explosions.  Did I miss my true vocation ?

Actually I was fascinated by the computer program, " Chemistry

Set. "   All the chemistry you never learned in high school or

college made more playful and a lot safer.

A lot of time is wasted in school chemistry labs just

making a mess, fearing the Big Bang right there, and your mind

freezing with the fear of  appearing an inept dummkopf.

The Chemistry Set accelerates the learning process. For

example , the student can instantly view in rotating three

dimensions any molecule being discussed. In a click one gets

important data - boiling point, freezing point, solubility,

preparation and uses, etc - on hundreds of elements and

    compounds.

In a click one gets summary biographys of important

chemists  like Lavoisier and Cavendish .

I just wish there were many more everyday experiments

on film. Girls who are shy about making a mess of themselves

now have no excuse not to learn a little basic chemistry.

Will the alarm go off again as the strange man with the

mysterious black bag exits the library ?
