Make 911 calls public information

I am a super liberal  in this matter of the public's " right to know ". On the front page of today's Providence Journal ( April 30 ) candidates for governor  were discussing specifically 911 calls. I'll admit I have a personal interest here: On Tuesday Jan.29 - around noontime - in Cranston- at the corner of Reservoir Ave and Speck Ave - I was chased into the street by an out of control and vicious Rotweiller. I fell on Reservoir and broke my shoulder. I was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance. The Cranston Police never bothered to show up, but it was the owner of the Rotweiller - we are reasonably sure- who made the 911 call.
              But then she disappeared - with no apology. As she witnessed her dog do me harm, she was involved in a CRIME - hit and run !   I believe I have every right to have this woman's identity and a transcript of her 911 call.

" Violently disagree " with Mr. Achorn ?

For a number reasons - unconnected to RACISM - I do not think

    that reparations are owed to descendants of black slaves.  So I was not

    impressed  with the column in today's Providence Journal by Nzinga Misgana

    and Asata M. Tigray -familiar AMERICAN names ! - " Why reparations are owed

    to blacks ".

              These gentlemen " violently disagree " with Mr. Achorn in this

    matter. Isn't it possible on EVERY  controversy nowadays to just politely

    disagree ? Must poor Mr. Achorn hire a body guard too ? I understand that

    75 Fountain St. has enough problems right now !

               Think about this aspect of the problem : IDENTIFICATION of

    descendants. In order to this fairly the country - using advanced DNA

    testing - would have to be as racially obsessed as  Nazi Germany .

               Should a half-black be as  unworthy of compensation as a

    half-Jew in Germany who has Holocaust relatives ?

                Should the compensation be such as to completely eliminate

    millions of blacks from the blue collar work force ? After compensation

    they as a NEW CLASS can  be free to hire and exploit  the white descendants

    of the victims of the notorious Industrial Revolution ?

                     And I guess the remaining poor whites have no excuse for

    being poor - as they were never victims of RACISM. They are still poor

    because they are lazy, shiftless, immoral white trash !

                   Perhaps  Misgana and Tigray might benefit from reading

    volume one of Karl Marx's " Capital ". I'm not quite sure today about

    the labor theory of value. But it makes at least as much sense as Isaac

    Newton's laws of motion.  Einstein taught us that these laws are not

    quite right - a little off the mark, sometimes way off the mark. But

    they got us to the Moon and back - and even to Mars and beyond.

                   Narrow minds are always off the mark in an expanding

    universe. Try to violently disagree with REALITY !

Robert Blake -guilty but sane !

I won't pay as much attention to the Robert Blake murder

    trial as I did O.J. Simpson's . I know  the plot all too well as I

    am an old fan of Alfred Hitchcock 's detective stories: How to murder

    your wife and live happily ever after.

             I won't say that I can empathize with Blake as I am safely

    single. The moralist in me condemns wife-murder. But the Hitchcock

    fan ? Ah but to be FREE again , to end the long misery of nature's

    dirty trick !

            If I were on the jury , I would find the actor GUILTY but SANE !

                Now back to my Hitchcock book : " Tales Your Mother Never

    Told You ".

Just say NO to the homeless ?

 Like many  in downtown Providence I'm often annoyed - and

    depressed- by repulsive and aggressive panhandlers. At times it is

    the psychological equivalent of a holdup. I either give the gentleman

    indigent or indigent gentleman enough change for a cup of hot coffee or

    a gallon of gas or he will crudely suggest in unpoetic language that I

    actually have an incestuous relationship with my 80 year old mother !

                But I still insist that  rather than just say NO to the homeless

    panhandlers, we say NO to homelessness.

            Yes, it should be against the law for ANYBODY to be homeless.

    A  city should be fined by a federal judge for every indigent not

    adequately housed - rather than  absurdly fine the indigent $500 for

    aggressive panhandling.

               Homelessness is not a problem to be solved for this society's

    ruling class. It is a menace to be contained or watched. All plutocrats

    fear the people of the Abyss, the uprising of the unwashed, the fury of

    the mob - with nothing to lose !

                 Reform is the best cure for revolution.

Crossing over -in your bedroom

A happily married man writes to Ann Landers that he enjoys wearing

    women's lingerie in the privacy of his locked bedroom. His dear wife does

    know about his cross dressing and HER counselor sees  this as a disgusting

    threat to his marriage. Ann sides with HIS - unprejudiced - head-doctor.

                Wow ! I've noticed for years how hellbent Ann Landers is

    on saving shipwrecked  marriages. The sacred institution of Holy Matrimony

    - more often than not, a sacred farce !

            What divine right does a  married man have to ever DISGUST his wife ?

         This  respectable business-man - who also teaches Sunday school -  pretends

    that he is NOT really gay or bi-sexual.I think he is deceiving himself here

    and  he has no right to deceive his wife.

                One explanation for cross dressing - sexual titilation !

         She should hire a female cross dresser - who looks like Humphrey

    Bogart - and have her  say to  her husband - in the privacy of their

    bedroom : " Look sweetheart, I can make a REAL woman out of you right

    now !  How about it ?

                  I suspect that Mr. business-man , Sunday school teacher will

    be surprisingly aroused !

                  I myself do not reject homosexuality, but question the morality

    of holy matrimony !

Leftist for national identity card

               My political views can be described as a dark shade of

    pink. Still I a rather like this " Orwellian " idea of a national

    identity card. It does sound corny but I am rather proud to be a

    citizen of the greatest country in the world - just as an ancient

    Roman would be of his Roman citizenship.

            So I would be proud to carry a national identity card that

    PROVED my citizenship  . In general I believe that INFORMATION in

    the Information Age is a good thing.  Why should an HONEST guy like

    me worry about what the government knows about me or anybody else.

    FACTS are just FACTS.

    way back  then ?  I kicked you out of the car because I thought

    you were just too cute to be in such a naughty profession.

                  I swear on my godfather's grave that I will never

" Katie " attacked by vicious dog

              Thank you " Katie " of North Kingstown for alerting the public

    of the dangers of loose and vicious dogs. In her April 18 letter to the

    editor she reports that while walking on School St. she was attacked by

    a black dog with white markings. I beginning to wonder if vicious dogs

    own the streets not just in Cranston ( see my letter in West Bay, " Your

    Turn ",   March 5 ) but that they now own the whole state of Rhode Island.

               Let me warn would be visitors to Rhode Island : Beware vicious

    dogs - not on a leash ! You are more likely to encounter Cujo here in

    this once idyllic state than the monstrous shark " Jaws " .

             Katie was attacked on March 28, I on Jan 29 at the corner of

    Speck Ave. and Reservoir Ave. in Cranston, R.I.

              Not only should the owners of vicious dogs be aware of leash

    laws, Katie, but the local police should  ENFORCE them. I suggest

    -if you can't find the owner - send your medical bills to the mayor of

    North Kingstown.

                A good campaign issue : Is Rhode Island literally going to

    the dogs  ?

         P.S. The Cranston Police have made no effort to find the owner of

    the Rottweiler who attacked me. She did make a 911 call and had a FOP

    license plate or sticker - a true lover of law and order,  I guess.

                    Good luck finding the  canine culprit, Katie !

No counterforce to anti-Semitism

Reading about these recent ugly manifestations of anti-

    Semitism in Europe - such as the burning of synagogues - I reflect

    that there were once powerful socialist and communist parties over

    there that would have challenged it and explained it as a symptom of

    decaying capitalism. Even  six decades later the Russian exile Leon

    Trotsky explained the roots of fascism better than today's politically

    correct but spineless liberals.

              Today global capitalism  and the world market are practically

    worshiped by former " socialist "  leaders like Britain's Tony Blair -

    now just a water boy for George W. Bush ! 

                Many Jewish intellectuals have abandoned their internationalist

    socialist convictions for the opium of Zionism - burning their political

    bridges to the democratic Left behind them.

                They worship not TRUTH anymore but an idol - the state of

    Israel.

Celibacy made the Church an empire

The pedophile scandals in the Catholic Church is giving

    honest and SANE celibacy a bad rap.  Rather than make a man " better "

    the institution of marriage  more often than not diminishes a man. It

    can be said that bourgeois marriage is the ENEMY of art and science and

    even peaceful and creative meditation.

               Einstein, for example, in his old aged confessed that he never

    liked being harnessed and that marriage was for the birds.

               As an  institution the Church would never have accumulated great

    wealth - and power - if it had to compete with numerous queen bees with

    vulgar visions of domestic bliss.

                 It is enough to see a man quietly enjoying a good book -

    if not THE GOOD BOOK - to infuriate the average housewife. How dare her

    man find anything in the universe more interesting than HER - even for

    a lousy half-hour !

                     It is possible to be SANELY celibate - if you have some

    passion in life stronger than testosterone.

The greening of Ancient Latin

 Some newspaper articles suggest that ancient Latin should

    be restored to the high school curriculum sensitive to " cultural

    literacy " - which, I agree, is the very glue of Western Civilization.

              But the subject should be introduced NATURALLY. And I mean

    this literally. Instead of afflicting adolescent minds with the

    military tyranny of Caesar - his bloody adventures in Gaul, chopping

    off heads, chopping off hands, crucifying this or that would be

    fugitive from the Roman yoke - or afflicting them with bombastic

    sentences of the greatest political windbag of all time, Mr.Eloquence

    himself, Cicero - why not let the gentle, good natured naturalist

    Pliny introduce the  students to what we still have in common 2000

     years later - the fascinating world of NATURE ?

                 It is easier to make contact with an ancient soul when

    he  is talking  about the stars and the moon and the planets... and

    the ocean and rivers and mountains and earthquakes... and the birds

    and the bees and flowers and trees ... and fish and whales, and lions

    and tigers and bears , jungles and deserts...  beautiful and precious

    rocks and minerals. And all in simple sentence using thousands of

    IMAGE words in a memorable and pleasing way !

                And what's more , we can LAUGH at all the nonsense in

    Pliny. Did great Caesar or pompous Cicero ever make you laugh ?

                We must make ancient Latin ecologically correct - if

    not politically correct.

Cardinal Law and totalitarian arrogance

        Your newspapers set me up to believe that Cardinal Law of Boston

    would pass - a little disgraced- into history this weekend. I imagined

    his eminence making a "I'm not a rock speech " and then a sullen good-bye.

           But we must not underestimate totalitarian arrogance - a product

    of centuries of institutional infallibility.  The Cardinal only takes

    advice from God Himself - Who frequently differs to the Cardinal !

                Perhaps Providence Journal columnist, Bob Kerr, can

    respectfully put his eminence on the bus - this one not only going out

    of town , but into the vicinity of Purgatory Chasm - a fearful place

    conducive to meditation.

              Do the  princes of the Church believe all that talk about a

    Judgment Day is just for the suckers in the pew ? The smart crowd has

    its fun in the here and now !

                 The pedophiles worship not the body of Christ ! 

Church could collapse like the Soviet Union ?

          Reading numerous editorials, columns, and letters in  American

    newspapers, I can now see how the pedophilia scandals in the Catholic

    Church have evolved into something much bigger , something of millennial

    consequences : a crisis of FAITH .

                  Now I wonder if the 2000 year old Church - the ROCK OF AGES -

    will crumble as suddenly and dramatically as the Evil Empire did just

    ten years ago. Church officials  think that Cardinal Law's resignation

    might have a snowball effect . Yes, sounds familiar : Today Poland then

    Berlin. And after the Berlin Wall comes down, the betrayed faithful will

    assemble in fury at the very gates of the Kremlin.

                A parallel with the Church : today Boston, tomorrow Rome !

             Actually I am sad at the prospect of a religious catastrophe.

    The Church lost its hold on my mind in the 60s. But it still has a claim

    on my heart. I do not think the world will be a better place without

    its pompous and sentimental irrelevance.

                And what will fill the spiritual vacuum ? Dialect materialism ?

    Crackpot sects ?  Dark Age superstition ?

                 Perhaps a new Aquinas or St.Augustine will emerge to re-establish

    its once awesome intellectual and moral authority.

                Oddly enough, I - a radical liberal - believe that Vatican II

    was the beginning of the END for the Catholic Church, its self-destruction.

                   When I do visit a church, I miss the ancient Latin, the

    old mystique. And I HATE having to shake anybody's hand.  I can shake

    hands with swindlers on Wall Street too !

                     Time for Jesus to come back ! But for now I'll get

    back to my Carl Sagan and my Isaac Asimov. Thank God for smart Jews !

Chaos in Cranston, Bob

Good afternoon, Bob. Just read your column on the Cranston crisis.

    I have not done my homework here and so I don't really know whom to

    blame. Clearly the " democratic " mob can be as dangerous as the professional

    hacks.

                  One odd fact : Whenever I move into town, municipal bonds

    descend to " junk bond " levels - as if SOCIALISM were around the corner

    along with those vicious dogs .

Echoes of Hitler in Mideast tragedy

 I hope for peace in the Middle East - a peace that can be

    achieved without the destruction of two great dreams: the dream of the

    Jews for homeland - inspired by centuries of ignorant persecution and

    more recently, the Holocaust ; the dream of displaced Palestinians for

    a homeland.Their present situation the result of bad judgment in the

    founding of Israel.

                  On talk shows lately there is circulating the myth of

    Jewish control of the media. I read a " scholarly " dissertation -

    by a professed neo-Nazi ! - documenting THE FACTS here for the enlightment

    of all respectable , true blooded American citizens.

               I do not have the academic credentials to refute the thesis

    of Jewish control of the media in any authoritative way. But I do have

    a saving sense of humor.

               My life  experience teaches me that you can't put three

    educated Jews in the same room together who will agree on ANYTHING -

    except that the Holocaust was regrettable !

                      So what DIFFERENCE does it make if all three were

    newspaper publishers ?

Advice books for executive wannabes ( Herald article )

 I myself am presently collecting TDI so I am  more accurately

    described as a blue collar wannabe than an executive wannabe. Nevertheless

    I can empathize with futile ambition everywhere and have even browsed

    those " confusing array of advice books " ( Boston Herald, Lifestyle, April

    8 ).

              My advice for executive wannabes  nowadays can be compressed

    into a few sentences:

              1     HAVE THE SOUL OF A SNAKE

              2     DON'T LOOK A DAY OVER 50

              3     HAVE A  STICKER on YOUR BRAND NEW CAR THAT READS : " I VOTED

                    FOR BUSH ! "

              4      SUPPRESS EVERY SYMPATHETIC THOUGHT YOU MIGHT HAVE FOR

                     ABUSED AND DECEIVED EMPLOYEES.


              In short  the soul of ENRON is the soul of corporate America.

                    And good luck. God IS on your side !

Some pompous advice for n'er do wells

 Almost everyday I read in the newspaper about young fools

    ruining their lives, getting long jail sentences, getting death sentences

    - all because of a moment of madness. Healthy and lusty young bodies -

    promising minds - to rot for eternity in a human zoo !

              Is there some simple PRACTICAL advice we middle aged cranks

    can offer the the young hotbloods before they " cross over " to the

    hellish, hopeless world of the living dead - the American prison system :

               ALL HOPE ABANDON YE WHO ENTER HERE !

          I myself can only come up with  a dusty old slogan : " The devil

    finds work for idle hands to. "   It seems to me that the luckiest kids

    have some passionate hobby, some constructive INTEREST , some worthy

    GOAL that saves them from despair when their life begins to go off

    course - through no fault of their own. In some ways BOREDOM is the

    root of all evil.

                The tragedy of so many kids is that they are surrounded -

    not just by so many other dumb kids, but by too many clueless adults.

               Imagine having to grow up without an  encounter with one

    adult who has his or her head together, who can pass on some WISDOM

    to a fresh generation.

                  TV is cultivating a new generation of baboons. Often

    on the bus I  fail to see even one young face with spark in it, a

    lively curiosity, a hint of a bright future.

               You don't have to be a gypsy fortune teller to SEE the

    future of these  neglected and self-neglected kids : Those same dead

    eyes now staring out from behind steel bars at the ACI.

Glorious cold war victory ?

I was never a fan of Joe Stalin or an apologist for the Evil

    Empire, but it seems to me the world was safer and saner when there

    was the once formidable Soviet Union to reckon with.

                    If we separate rational idealism of communist ideology

    from its bureaucratic corruption in the Kremlin , we see that a powerful

    and seductive message was aimed at the OPPRESSED everywhere: you must

    UNITE against oppression and exploitation in all its odious forms everywhere.

    Your race, nationality, religion  should be no obstacle to unity in this

    fight : WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE !

               Why does that slogan sound so quaint and ludicrous today ? Is

    tribalism - even in its politically correct forms - the spirit of the

    times and just when advances in the science of genetics leave no room for

    doubt about old egalitarian assumptions. People are alike everywhere.

    Everywhere they have the same human needs, dream the same dreams.

               What diabolical force is determined to keep mankind divided ?

          Is hateful tribalism in the interest of global capitalism ?  More

    important to see oneself as a Jew or an Arab than a human being ?

                  Ironically the Jews practically invented CONSCIENCE.

No home insurance for Rottweiler owner ? ( too bad ! )

 " I am the proud owner of three Rotweillers "  begins a letter

    to The Boston Herald ( April 3 ).  But the poor woman, Rachael Szafir of

    Boston, is having a big problem - " nearly impossible " - obtaining homeowner's

    insurance.

          Sorry but I can't feel too sorry for her.  Recently my life was devastated

    by an out of control and vicious Rottweiler  on Reservoir Ave. in Cranston,

    Rhode Island.  Around noontime on  Tuesday, January 29 - near the intersection

    of Reservoir and Speck Ave - a vicious Rottweiler chased me into the busy

    street. I tripped and broke my right shoulder. I was taken by ambulance to

    Rhode Island Hospital. I needed surgery. I just received the bill -  more

    than $18,000 !

                   The woman called 911 and then disappeared. No apology from

    her for devastating my life.

                I am not a vindictive person but if she owns a house - and I

    find it - she should prepare herself to live in  a considerably more humble

    abode.

                And I will donate  one  million to  Rhode Island Hospital and

    a special gift to the good surgeons who operated on me.

                    The insurance companies are wise here !

Two headed snake's mating habits

I read with amusement the news item today that scientists are

    studying the mating games of a freak two headed snake. The study might

    indeed be pertinent to the human mating game. Happily single myself, I

    have heard numerous wives complain that their husband - although not

    exactly two headed - was a TWO FACED snake. Indeed HIS  better half is

    also a snake.

                  Long live holy matrimony !

They will soon kill Arafat

I'll bet Yassir Arafat - for better or worse, THE

    Palestinian leader - will soon be murdered by a hot headed Israeli

    soldier. The Israeli government and George W. Bush are making impossible

    demands on him to TAKE CHARGE - while depriving him of all the apparatus

    of power, communications, freedom of movement. Also  Arafat is a sick

    old man who must have his medications. He could die by malicious neglect.

                 A soon to be dead Arafat will be a  rather formidable in

    contrast to  the present rather pathetic figure.

                 The American news media  fails to understand the psychology

    of a MASS MOVEMENT - which can be quite irrational and intractable.

               Arafat can no more control his lunatic fringe than George W.

    Bush can control the far right of the Republican Party. But he dare

    not disown them !

Was it a " hit and run " crime ?

A poor dog is shot by a creepy jerk with a BB gun. The story makes

    the local TV news. A REWARD will be offered for information leading to

    the arrest of the culprit.

          OK with me - in general I love dog too. But  does not the HUMAN

    victim of a vicious dog also deserve some public sympathy and attention ?

                Recently a vicious and out of control rottweiler devastated my

    life. And the story did not even make the weekly POLICE LOG in the Cranston

    Herald ( after I reported it myself ! ) . Nor did it make the POLICE LOG

    in the Providence Journal ( my letter was published in " Your Turn ", West

    Bay News, March 5 ) .

                      Around  noontime on Tuesday ,January 29 - at the intersection

    of Speck Ave. and Reservoir  Ave. in Cranston - I was chased into  Reservoir

    Ave. by the rottweiler. I tripped and broke my shoulder. It seems that

    the owner of the dog - after calling 911 - just disappeared. So I was

    not able to get in touch with her. The Cranston police have made to effort

    to find or identify the young woman. ( edit above : no effort )

                 She  was a witness to  a CRIME. She KNOWS that her dog

    was responsible for my injury.  Is she not guilty herself of a " hit and

    run " crime  ?

Impressed with " traitor " Jew , Shapiro

A young maverick Jew named Shapiro was interviewed on the TV

    morning news today. No it was not  an April Fools joke: the young man

    reminds me of the best and the brightest of the 60s anti-war movement.

    Without  supporting terrorism, he expressed intelligent sympathy for

    the CAUSE of the Palestinians. And -of course - Shapiro interview was

    abruptly  terminated - so it seemed to me.

                 The smartest, most  ethically sensitive  Jews of the last

    century were all communists, socialist, pacifists, or very passionate

    liberals. Hardly any fanatical Zionists !

                  Is not a state based on religious mythology as anachronistic

    as any creepy Islamic state ? Is modern Israel just a pipedream ?

                   Three cheers for Shapiro - a good HUMAN BEING !
