Lies useless against the Prince of Lies

Truly asinine thinking: use the Big Lie tactic in our war against

terrorists. You can fight fire with fire. But the Lie must be fought with

the Truth. I don't expect Pentagon officials to be as honest as Ralph Nader.

Just a cut above the loathed enemy !

Was it the French writer Camus who said : " In fighting our enemy

we must not come to resemble them "  ? Odd that people who swear loyalty

to democracy have so little faith in the power of TRUTH -which will make us

    free.

If terrorists had any faith in the truth, they would not kill

honest journalists like Mr. Pearl of the Wall St. Journal . Mr Pearl was

a jewel of the profession. How horrible his execution !

Cruel reparations hoax

With deep sympathy for the victims of the odious slave trade,

I must say that all this talk about reparations for past slavery is indeed

inspired by base instincts -like greed - and propensity of naive blacks for

    pleasant fantasies and fatuous daydreaming.

So one day a government check will arrive in the mail. And

instantly every black person who can claim some slave as an ancestor is

the equal of the big time lottery worker. No need to work another day in

your life. Leave all the blue collar grind to white crackers who may have

had ancestors who fought to free the slaves.

All that dispersed wealth would be better used for a national

health care plan for ALL working people, educational opportunities for ALL

working people, and every society needs funds set aside for every kind of

calamity - economic depression, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, epidemics,

and now even TERRORISM - a very costly war against it.

And middle America does frown on ALL unearned money. Think about

that while imagining yourself with the life style of the rich and famous-

and obnoxious - all because your ancestors were slaves. And their ghosts

might haunt you: " All my misery for YOU ?  "

I hear the factory whistle blowing. Wake up ! Think

UNION ! That might get you out of your rut.

When Law clashes with Science

I am following the case of the depressed mother who drowned her

own children. It seems to me that the law is way behind  modern psychology

in its dark age concept of mystical FREE WILL. NOTHING in nature could

possibly account for the legal notion of free will. There is more to human

sanity than merely knowing right from wrong. The part of  the brain associated

with primal emotions -like motherly love- could be defective.

I hope the poor woman IS found insane. Clearly society neglected her

when she was most in need of help.

The whole world of crime and punishment is based on mystical fictions

like free will. Now I will get back to "Will " by G. Gordon Liddy.

Compartmentalized debate on slave reparations

Once again reparations for slavery is a hot topic on local talk

radio. Liberals who feel passionately on the subject -think injustice to

our ancestors entitles us to something- have very curiously compartmentalized

thinking on the controversy . What about the more general question -now asked

only by diehard Marxists ?- about the maldistribution of wealth in capitalist

societies, about the everyday " exploitation of FREE labor. When was the last

time any radical liberal in the news even paid homage to the old fashioned

    labor theory of value ?

A theoretical discussion of the CLASS nature of wealth creation is

far more illuminating than stale debates on  reparations for black slavery.

Wage slavery is still a reality. The haves have nearly everything because

they can EXPLOIT the have nots of the world - of all races and nationalities.

How many partisans of slavery reparations are socialists ?

Ludicrous liaison to gay community ?

I agree with opinions expressed on Arlene Violet's radio talk show

that Mayor Cianci's appointment of two liaison people to the gay community

is an insulting farce and blatant pandering to gay activists who pretend to

think and speak for the majority of gay people -who do not wish for special

treatment or make arrogant demands on the " straight " society.

As one caller asked : " Why not a liaison person for short fat

    people over 40 ? " Or a liaison for the homeless ?

No man with a conscience would ask others to betray their own

conscience on moral questions - like homosexuality.

Tolerance is enough - not special " prima donna " laws.

Perhaps a public health doctor would be a better choice for a liaison

to the gay community. Forget about gay marriage- a farce of a farce !

Muzzle law in Cranston ?

Do vicious dogs own the street now in once pleasant Cranston, R.I.?

On Tuesday, Jan.29 an out of control rottweiler chased me into Reservoir

Ave. near the corner of Speck St. I fell on the busy street near noon

time. I broke my shoulder and was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island

    Hospital. I needed surgery.

Should I send the $18,000 bill to the good mayor of Cranston ?

Perhaps he can help me find the owner of the bum dog who made the 911

call. No apology from her for devastating my life. No call of inquiry.

And no Cranston Police on the scene to report the incident.

Too close to lunch time. Was that a FOP license plate the lady had ?

Hmnn ? Something rotten here ?

Gambling for fools

With regard to your editorial today, I myself know more than a

few working class people who ruined themselves gambling.

In his biography Isaac Asimov relates his one experience

as a youth with gambling: he lost ! His father was happy for him.

A win might have taught him the WRONG lesson.

Turner's words OK with me

I  am surprised that Ted Turner has to eat his words spoken recently

at Brown University. Most of it rang true. The suicide terrorists on maniacs-

not cowards. But to compare Bush to the great Caesar is off the wall. Caesar

was mild and not vindictive toward his enemies. He was the friend of the

mob, not the old Roman aristocracy.

Today I would prefer the democratic mob to Enron servants.

We can learn much from class struggles in ancient Rome. Hail Caesar !

Good PR for Catholic Church ?

With the all the child abuse sex scandals in the news, would not

the Catholic Church be wise to plan a strategic retreat from women's

clinics demonstrations ? Keep the bambinos coming ? Yes, a child's life is

    precious indeed !

I oppose both abortion and hypocrisy. No Church has a right to

dictate morality to a secular state.

God help ALL the innocents in these scandals.
