I would appreciate an essay from a Marxist perspective on why human societies have found it so necessary to give supreme power to single individuals from Augustus Caesar to Joseph Stalin and to the present group of blowhard but so MEDIOCRE tyrants ?
Why have the masses ALWAYS felt so helpless and out of touch with the real power in the social order ?
So many SLAVE revolts failed. What is the secret of the impotence of the masses ? Could it be rooted in the stubborn division of labor ? Life was always too much to be troubled by the BIG PICTURE ?
It is easy to understand why even simple LITERACY was such a threat to ruling class power.
