Rhode Island " liberals " make FDR seem like a flaming Bolshevik

The death of Ed Sadlowski and the demise of trade union reformism

I do recall the early support for the young Sadlowski from a much more vigorous " left " before the Reagan Era. The rotten capitalist system so often succeeds in corrupting the souls of would be working class " leaders ".

A warning : BEWARE of just WHO is puffing you up ! It always helps for young socialists to be a little bit on the puritanical side. Middle class cocktail parties and stuffing your face with petty bourgeois ladies and philistine corporate careerists is hazardous to your socialist soul.

Here in Rhode Island NONE of union leaders are less than treacherous to the rank-and-file. They are ALL obsequious followers of entrenched " friends-of-labor " Democrats.

To be sure , Governor Gina Raimondo is no Eleanor Roosevelt. These Rhode Island " liberals " make FDR seem like a flaming Bolshevik .

[ “You can make it sound like any kind of revolutionary rhetoric you want,” he told The New York Times in 1976, “but the fact is it’s the working class versus the coupon clipper.” ]
